A new high school AP (Advanced Placement) course in Computer Science is under development. The course, is called Computer Science Principles – a deep, content rich course covering the fundamentals of computing. CS Principles will NOT replace the current APCS A – Java Programming Course, but will be the course students would take to appreciate the “beauty and awe” of computing.
CS Principles now moves on to Phase II where 50 teachers are piloting the course. Experienced pilots collaborate with the incoming pilot instructors and work through the curriculum and three performance based tasks that will eventually become part of the AP Exam.. The course is to become an official AP in the year 2016 -2017.
